The Australian National University (ANU) is one of the world's most highly respected universities. The University is located on a beautiful 145-hectare campus in the heart of Canberra, the nation's capital. Canberra is a clean, friendly, culturally diverse city with a young and cosmopolitan population of 323,000 people (21.6% of people living in Canberra were born overseas and the average age is 32). It is home to most of Australia's national institutions such as the Federal Parliament, the High Court, National Art Gallery and National Museum. The Visiting Student Program provides support to all incoming and outgoing exchange and study abroad students. The International Student Services team provides a range of services from pre-departure briefings, collection at the airport on arrival and an extensive orientation program to assistance with finding accommodation. All international students are also encouraged to use services such as the Careers Centre, the Academic Skills and Learning Centre, computer literacy programs, health and counselling services, travel centre, pharmacy, cafes and restaurants and sports centre.

All ANU residences are furnished, centrally heated and carpeted and equipped with their own telephone and voice mail. The residences offer modern computer rooms, libraries, television and reception rooms, laundries and academic and pastoral assistance.
